Man Drunkenly Boards School Bus In Boise, Has Gun in Bag

A 19-year-old Meridian Man is under arrest after boarding a school bus in Boise with a gun.  According to a statement from the Boise Police Department, Tristiano Fragomeno boarded the bus attempting to get a ride to an unknown location.  He was believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  During the ride, the bus driver noticed Fragomeno was acting strangely, and called in to the school.

Police arrived at North Jr High and searched Fragomeno’s backpack, where they located a stolen handgun and drugs.  He tried to flee police on foot but was taken into custody a short time later.

According to a statement from the Boise School District, no students were hurt in the incident.  BPD is currently working with Durham Bus Company to investigate the situation.

Fragomeno was arrested on Felony Grand Theft and Controlled Substance charges.  He also faces Misdemeanor charges for carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence, possessing weapons or firearms on school property, and resisting arrest.

Editor’s Notebook:

Any time we’re dealing with kids safety we have a tendency to react swiftly and forget quickly.  Ultimately, the bus was going to both the Jr High and High School.  Fragomeno could definitely pass for a high school student (right down to the patchy, non-adult looking beard.)

Ultimately, the questions we need to ask Boise School District officials is what policies govern this sort of incident, were they followed, and do they need updating given the circumstances that occurred today.
