BPD arrests suspect following human trafficking investigation

On December 18, 2023, just before 10:30 pm Boise Police officers were dispatched to a hotel on the 1000 block of W. Fairview Ave in reference to a 911 Hang Up. Officers were able to get back in contact with the calling party over the phone and determined she was a possible victim of abuse. Responding officers entered the business and located the adult female victim outside of a hotel room. Evidence indicates the victim and suspect, later identified as Freddy Mcclain traveled to Boise 4 days prior from another state.

While officers were speaking with the victim, Mcclain was seen arriving back at the hotel. Mcclain attempted to flee and was located a few blocks away and taken into custody. The victim was taken to another location and Boise Police Department Victim Witness Coordinators responded to provide support and resources.

Further investigation by detectives, including obtaining a search warrant for the room, identified evidence of human trafficking. Detectives also determined that the suspect had hit the victim and attempted to strangle her. The suspect was booked into the Ada County Jail on the listed charges.
