Coroner ID’s Woman Killed on 55 Near Beacon Light Saturday

Press Release:

Eagle Police are trying to determine why a 39-year-old Boise woman was walking on Idaho 55 and jumped in front of traffic before a fatal crash Saturday night.

The Ada County Coroner’s office determined Laura Maynez died as a result of blunt force injuries she sustained in the crash.

Officers were called to an area just south of the Idaho 55/Beacon Light Road intersection just before 8 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a woman walking into traffic.

One person called Ada County dispatch to report how they had to swerve to miss hitting a woman who jumped in front of their car.

When officers arrived moments later, a woman, later identified as Maynez, was lying on the road and visibly injured.

A Toyota SUV was parked on the side of the road with damage to the front, and the driver was outside.

Eagle Fire and Ada County Paramedics arrived moments later and took Maynez to a local hospital for treatment, where she was declared deceased at 10 p.m.

Officers interviewed the driver of the SUV and other eyewitnesses and collected evidence from the scene.

Traffic was delayed for several hours Saturday night while officers investigated the crash.

The case is still being investigated. No charges have been filed.
